Men's and Women's Divers Wrap Up Two-Day Kalamazoo Invite

Hope College men's and women's divers competed at the Kalamazoo College Hornet Diving Invitational over the weekend.

The Orange and Blue combined to post six regional-qualifying scores and total the highest men's and women's total among the four teams competing, with 243 points.

On Friday, junior Laura Zupancic (Fort Collins, Colorado / Liberty Common) finished runner-up on the 1-meter board with a regional-scoring score of 424.85 points. Freshman Grace Dawson (Jackson, Michigan / Western) placed fourth with a regional-qualifying total of 419.75 points. Albion's Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru topped an 18-diver field with 455.90 points.

On the men's side, freshman Finn Sanders (Wyoming, Michigan / Grandville) took third on the 3-meter board by posting a regional-qualifying total of 442.65 points. Senior Justin Romero (Detroit, Michigan / Woodhaven) recorded a fourth-place total of 398.95 points. Kalamazoo's Alexander Ligman won with 507.95 points.

On Saturday, Dawson finished runner-up in women's 3-meter diving after posting a regional-qualifying score of 460.65 points. Zupancic took third with a regional-qualifying total of 44.80 points. Wadsworth-Curcuro won with 465.05 points.

In men's 1-meter diving, Sanders placed third after recording a regional-qualifying score of 436.30 points. Romero was fourth with 411.15 points. Ligman won with 469.70 points.

Hope next competes on Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Michigan-Illinois Quad hosted by Kalamazoo.
