Men's Swim/Dive Punctuates End of NCAA Championships with School-Record Relay

Hope places 10th in the 400 freestyle relay with its fastest time yet

A fantastic finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay for the Hope College men's swimming and diving team closed a promising week for the Flying Dutchmen at the NCAA Division III Championships.

With a relay filled with underclassmen, the Flying Dutchmen raced to a school record in the meet's final event on Saturday at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Junior Josh Bordovsky (Herndon, Virginia / South Lakes), junior Christian Hoeksema (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian), sophomore Everett Cox (Sugar Land, Texas / Logos Prep) and junior Graham Eisenmann (Ozark, Missouri / Ozark) clocked a school-record time of 2:58.37 during the consolation final.

The relay finished 10th and earned Second-Team All-America honors. Bowdoin College won the consolation final, just 0.45 faster.

Hope built on the 2:58.75 posted earlier in the day during preliminaries, topping the 2024 mark of 2:59.45 set by Colin Kalkman, Ben Catton, Graham Eisenmann and Henry Booker.

Head coach Jake Taber is excited about the future for the Flying Dutchmen. "They came in with confidence, they were really focused, and as the meet went on, they just continued to believe more and more in what they were capable of, and they were in it together," Taber said. "We changed the order for the relay a little bit tonight, and I think that was something given the race around us that helped a little. It's a great group, and the future is bright."

The Flying Dutchmen competed in two other events on Saturday. In the 200 breaststroke, Bordovsky just missed the consolation final, placing 17th after posting a time of 2:01.38. He was three-tenths of a second from advancing.

In the 100 freestyle, Eisenmann finished 20th in the nation with a swim of 44.53 seconds.

Hope tied for 26th place with 32 points.
