Women's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Honor, Nine ITA Scholar Athletes

The MIAA regular-season and tournament champion Hope College women's tennis team delivered on and off the court this season, claiming Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honors and producing nine ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Seniors Miyako Coffey and Sullivan Moran, juniors Amanda Lopykinski and Hope Rhoades, sophomores Makenna Crandell, Kamryn Dumas, Phoebe Walker and Madison Wei, and freshman Kaitlyn Stievater received individual recognition.


To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Teams must have a GPA of at least 3.2 to earn ITA All-Academic Team distinction.

Coffey, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Xavier), was a political science major.

Moran, from Birmingham, Michigan (Wylie E. Groves), was a political science major and a four-time All-MIAA selection.


Lopykinski, from Lemont, Illinois (Lemont Township), is a neuroscience major. Lopykinski repeated as the MIAA's Most Valuable Player this season.


Rhoades, from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian), is an elementary education major.


Crandell, from Byron Center, Michigan (Byron Center), is an elementary education major.


Dumas, from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), is a psychology major.


Wei, from Parker, Colorado (Regis Jesuit), is a biomedical and bioelectrical engineering major.


Walker is from Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City Central).


Stievater is from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Wylie E. Groves).
