The Hope College men's soccer team's bid for a repeat MIAA title will begin in second place in the 2025 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Flying Dutchmen, who were co-champions last season, received two first-place votes and finished with 12 points in the eight-team poll.
Coaches could not vote for their own teams. Calvin University topped the poll with six first-place votes and nine points. Trine University, also a 2024 MIAA co-champion, placed third with 19 points and was followed by Albion College (28), Adrian College (29), Kalamazoo College (35), Alma College (45) and the University of Olivet (47).
Led by fourth-year head coach
David Blahnik, Hope opens the season on Friday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. against Ohio Wesleyan University. Both teams received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Division III preseason poll.
The Flying Dutchmen finished 14-3-3 last season, including a 5-0-2 record in MIAA play. Hope advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 11 years.
Three All-MIAA standouts return, including:
- Senior forward Seth Walters (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph HS), a two-time All-MIAA honoree who also made the United Soccer Coaches All-Region VIII Second Team;
- Sophomore forward Jackson Mindling (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian), a First Team selection in his debut collegiate season;
- Junior midfielder Josh Weigel (Naperville, Illinois / North Central HS), a two-time All-MIAA pick who strengthens the midfield.
