Volleyball Sits Eighth in This Week's AVCA National Poll

The Hope College volleyball team ranks eighth in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll.

The Flying Dutch, who are off to a 5-1 start this season, totaled 1,483 points.

Defending national champion Juniata College (Pa.) topped the poll with 2,126 points and 77 of 86 possible first-place votes.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is second with 2,031 points and two first-place votes, followed by:
  • 3. third-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (1,934 points, six first-place votes);
  • 4. Johns Hopkins University, Md. (1,901 points and one first-place vote);
  • 5. The University of La Verne, Calif. (1,711 points);
  • 6. Emory University, Ga. (1,669);
  • 7. MIT (1,523);
  • 8. Hope;
  • 9. Washington and Lee University, Va. (1,412);
  • 10. East Texas Baptist University (1,370).
Hope's next match is vs. La Verne on Friday, Sept. 12, at 4:30 p.m. Central at Oshkosh.

The Flying Dutch have two more matches at Oshkosh on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. Central vs. the University of Chicago and 2 p.m. Central vs. Oshkosh. Chicago led the receiving votes category outside of the Top 25.
