Women's Tennis Serves Up Three Semifinalists at Season-Opening Tournament

The Hope College women's tennis team advanced to the finals in one flight and the semifinals in two more during its season-opening tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Freshman Sophia Grzesiak (Beverly Hills, Michigan / Detroit Country Day) won three singles matches in Draw D before losing, 6-1, to Western Michigan University's Marielou Baudouin.

In Draw A for singles, senior Amanda Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township) and sophomore Hadley Krygier (White Lake, Michigan / Walled Lake Northern) both made it to the semifinals.

Krygier defeated two opponents before falling to Lola Glantz of Western Michigan, 8-0.

Lopykinski won one match before losing to WMU's Sienna Osborne, 8-1.

Hope's next match is Friday-Saturday, Sept. 19-20, at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional at Washington University in St. Louis.
