No. 20 Men's Swim/Dive Delivers Runner-Up Effort at MIAA Invite

The Hope College men's swimming and diving team clocked a winning 200-yard freestyle relay at the MIAA Invite and finished runner-up in five more events on Saturday.

The 20th-ranked Flying Dutchmen placed second at the six-team event at Calvin University with 590 points.

In the 200 freestyle relay, junior Graham Eisenmann (Ozark, Missouri / Ozark), senior Henry Booker (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville), junior Christian Hoeksema (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian), and freshman Nolan Smith (Buffalo Grove, Illinois / Buffalo Grove) recorded a first-place swim of 1 minute, 24.30 seconds — 2.31 seconds faster than Calvin.

Sophomore Everett Cox (Sugar Land, Texas / Logos Prep) posted two second-place efforts.

In the 200 free, Cox went 1:56.87, second to Calvin's Charles Platt (1:39.96).

In the 200 butterfly, Cox clocked a runner-up swim of 1:56.87 behind Calvin's Jacob Ziegler (1:53.97).

Eisenmann finished second in the 100 free at 45.54 seconds behind Jackson Merkel of Calvin (45.51).

Junior Josh Bordovsky (Herndon, Virginia / South Lakes) recorded a runner-up 21.24 seconds in the 50 free behind Merkel (21.0).

In 3-meter diving, senior Justin Romero (Detroit, Michigan / Woodhaven) posted a second-place effort of 245.85 points. Kalamazoo College's Zander Ligman was first with 312.10 points.

Results do not count toward determining the MIAA champion. No. 10-ranked Calvin finished first at the MIAA Invite with 641 points. Kalamazoo took third with 280 points and was followed by Alma College (272), Albion College (207) and The University of Olivet (45).

Hope's next meet is Saturday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. vs. No. 4 University of Chicago at Holland Aquatic Center.
