The 39th-ranked Hope College women's tennis team hosted No. 32 Denison University on Friday, falling 6-1 at the DeWitt Tennis Center.
The Flying Dutch move to 3-4 overall and now turn their attention to the start of their Texas trip, beginning March 5 at Trinity University (TX) at 6 p.m. CT.
Hope's point came at No. 1 singles, where Amanda Lopykinski (Lemont Township, Illinois / Lemont Township HS) battled through a three-set marathon. After dropping the opening set, steady play allowed the senior to edge out a tight second set, and closed the match with a 10–8 super-tiebreak to secure Hope's lone victory of the afternoon.
