No. 19 Men's Swim/Dive Wins Two Events in Dual Meet vs. No. 12 Calvin

The Hope College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the dual-meet portion of the 2025-26 season with two first-place performances at Calvin University on Friday.

The 19th-ranked Flying Dutchmen posted a 1-2-3 finish in 3-meter diving and recorded the fastest swim in the 100-yard freestyle during a 214-82 loss to the 12th-ranked Knights. The meet does not count toward determining the MIAA champion.


In 3-meter diving, freshman Finn Sanders (Wyoming, Michigan/Grandville) recorded a first-place total of 228.74 points.


Junior Max Reed (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) finished runner-up with 218.85 points. Senior Justin Romero (Detroit, Michigan/Woodhaven) placed third with 217.42 points.


In the 100 freestyle, junior Josh Bordovsky (Herndon, Virginia/South Lakes) posted the fastest time at 24.16 seconds.


Hope also finished runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay and recorded third-place swims in four additional events.


In the 200 freestyle relay, Bordovsky, junior Graham Eisenmann (Ozark, Missouri/Ozark), junior Christin Hoeksema (Holland, Michigan/Holland Christian) and sophomore Blake Hetherington (Jackson, Michigan/Lumen Christi) recorded a second-place time of 1:23.40, just 0.03 behind Calvin.


In the 100 backstroke, junior Nick Suranyi (Novi, Michigan/Novi) finished third in 54.03.


In the 200 backstroke, Hoeksema placed third in 1:57.70.


In the 200 butterfly, freshman Hunter Latham (Lake Stevens, Washington/Lake Stevens) finished third in 2:00.50.


In the 500 freestyle, freshman Nolan Smith (Buffalo Grove, Illinois/Buffalo Grove) placed third in 4:57.53.


Hope will compete next at the MIAA Championships from Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 18-21, at the Holland Aquatic Center. All-session and single-session tickets are available through the MIAA website.
