Divers Grace Dawson and Laura Zupancic Excel at NCAA Regionals

Hope College women's divers Grace Dawson and Laura Zupancic made strong pushes to join eight swimming teammates at next month's NCAA Division III National Championships in Indianapolis.

Both excelled during the NCAA regional hosted by Kalamazoo College this weekend. National qualifiers, determined by combined regional results, will be announced this week. The championships will be held Wednesday-Saturday, March 18-21, at the Indiana University Natatorium.


On Saturday, Dawson (Jackson, Michigan/Western) finished third in a 22-diver field on the 3-meter board. The freshman and MIAA Most Valuable Women's Diver posted a score of 429.45 points.


Zupancic (Fort Collins, Colorado/Liberty Commons) placed seventh with 422.35 points.


Carleton College's Nina Schwab won with 479.9 points.


On Friday, Dawson placed sixth on the 1-meter board with a score of 398.95 points. Zupancic was 14th with 373.20 points.


Baldwin-Wallace University's Makenna Mincey recorded a winning total of 454.25 points.
