Eleven Selected for All-MIAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams

Led by Most Valuable Track Athlete Sara Schermerhorn, the Hope College women's track and field team garnered 11 All-MIAA selections for the 2026 indoor season.

Five made the All-MIAA First Team, seniors Frances Cozzens, Lauren Nemens and Schermerhorn, and freshmen Jaidyn Klimp and Savana Monville.

Six earned All-MIAA Second Team recognition: seniors Kamryn Bice and Molly Durow, junior Mary England, sophomore Maddie VandeBunte, and freshmen Eliana Kotsonis and Miranda Sawvel.

Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West) is the first MIAA student-athlete to claim Most Valuable Athlete honors three consecutive seasons in either track or field and the second to earn the honor three times. Trine University's Evie Bultemeyer won the award in 2021, 2019 and 2018.


A four-time All-MIAA recipient, Schermerhorn repeated as MIAA champion in the 400 meters with a meet-record time of 57.29 seconds and anchored Hope's meet-record 4x400 relay that went 4:02.13


Schermerhorn also earned silver medals in the 60 and 200 meters.


Durow, an elementary education major from Glenview, Illinois (Glenbrook South), raced to silver medals in the 800 meters and the mile.


England (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Central) clocked a silver medal-earning effort in the 3,000 meters.


Klimp captured a gold medal in the heptathlon, becoming Hope's first MIAA champion in the event.


Monville (Auburn, Michigan / Bay City Western), Nemens (Sterling Heights, Michigan / Adlai E. Stevenson) and Cozzens (Lyman, New Hampshire / Saint Johnsbury Academy) all ran on the record-setting 4x400 relay.


Nemens is a biology major. Cozzens majors in art studio. 


Bice, a biology major from Monroe, Michigan /(Monroe) claimed a silver medal in the shot put.


Kotsonis (Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin / Hamilton), VandeBunte (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) and Sawvel (Laramie, Wyoming / Centennial) ran on the silver-medal earning distance medley relay.
