Elias Kretchmar recorded the fastest 5,000-meter race of the Hope College men's track and field season on Friday at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invitational.
The sophomore from Granville, Ohio (Granville) clocked a personal-best time of 14 minutes, 35.12 seconds and finished 42nd in the field of 324 runners.

Carston Cole of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) took 56th after posting a run of 14:40.67.
Two more Flying Dutchmen finished in under 15 minutes: freshman
Elijah Forbord of Howell, Michigan (Brighton) at 14:57.57 for 108th place, and sophomore Noah Morris of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Washtenaw Academy) at 14:58.23 for 118th place.
