Men's Track and Field Clocks Two Second-Place Runs at GVSU Invite

The Hope College men's track and field team competed at the Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University, on Saturday and turned in several top-eight finishes.

In the 100 meters, freshman Maurice Streeter (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Kalamazoo Central) placed second with a time of 10.66 seconds, a mark that ranks No. 33 in NCAA Division III this season. Junior Dylan Terpstra of Hudsonville, Mich. / Hudsonville), followed with a fifth-place finish in 10.75, ranking No. 59 nationally.

Sophomore Kevin Barifagok (Las Vegas, Nevada / Cristo Rey Saint Viator) added a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 54.74 seconds to rank No. 42 in Division III.

Hope's 4x100-meter relay team of Nolan Sanders (Midland, Mich. / H.H. Dow), Terpstra, Streeter, and Luke Bellino (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton) finished third in 41.22 seconds, a season-best time that ranks No. 10 in Division III.

In the 400 meters, Bellino recorded a fourth-place finish in 49.16 seconds.

Senior Andrew Tilly (Lemont, Ill. / Lemont Township) placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:13.14.

In the field events, junior Matthew Bir of Wenatchee, Wash. (River Academy) won the javelin throw with a mark of 48.30 meters (158 feet, 5 inches). Senior Wil Pinkerton of Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer) finished second at 48.17 meters (158-0).

Freshman Carter Marquard of Shelbyville, Mich. (Wayland) placed eighth in the high jump after clearing 1.96 meters (6-5), a mark that ranks No. 48 in Division III.

Senior Caleb Paarlberg of Alto, Mich. (Caledonia) added an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 14.07 meters (46-2).

Hope will compete next at the "GINA" Relays hosted by Hillsdale College from Thursday-Saturday, April 16-18.
