Cooper Jacobsen Races to Men's 1,500-Meter Track Win at Hillsdale Invite

The Hope College men's track and field team turned in several strong distance performances at the GINA Relays, hosted by Hillsdale College, on Friday and Saturday, highlighted by a first-place finish and multiple top-eight efforts.

Sophomore Cooper Jacobsen (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Eastern) led the Flying Dutchmen with a first-place finish in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line in 4 minutes, 5.83 seconds.

Junior Shane Pitcher (Saline, Michigan / Saline) added a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:11.09.

Junior Ethan Grevengoed (Spring Lake, Michigan / Spring Lake) placed seventh in the steeplechase in 10:45.69, while sophomore Noah Norris (Ann Arbor, Michigan Washtenaw Academy) took eighth in the championship section with a time of 9:53.40.

Freshman Matthew Long (Otsego, Michigan / Otsego) paced Hope in the 800 meters with a ninth-place finish in 1:58.47.

Hope will compete next on Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m. at Calvin University.
