Women's Track and Field Excels at Augustana Qualifier, Sets Two School Records

The Hope College women's track and field team set school records in two relays during their final meet before the field for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships is announced.

The Flying Dutch recorded their fastest times in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays at the two-day Augustana College Midwest Twilight Qualifier that concluded on Thursday.

The NCAA Championships field is announced on Friday, May 15.  The NCAA Division III Championships are Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23, at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

In the 4x400 relay, freshman Jaidyn Klimp of Galesburg, Michigan (Galesburg Augusta), senior Frances Cozzens of Lyman, New Hampshire (Saint Johnsbury Academy), freshman Savana Monville of Auburn, Michigan (Bay City Western), and senior Sara Schermerhorn of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West) clocked the nation's 11th-fastest tie at 3 minutes, 46.39 seconds.

The relay, which finished second, passed the Hope record of 3:46.68 set in 2025 by Catherine Leahy, Cozzens, Jasmine Zimmerman and Schermerhorn.

In the 4x100 relay, senior Ava Schmidt of Saline, Michigan (Saline), Schermerhorn, Klimp, and sophomore Sofia Fisher of Lombard, Illinois (Montini Catholic) posted the nation's 13th-fastest run at 46.80.

The relay, which placed second, eclipsed the Hope record of 47.00 set in 2025 by Schmidt, Catherine Leahy, Fisher and Schermerhorn.

Hope also excelled in individual events.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Molly Durow of Glenview, Illinois (Glenbrook South) ran a personal-best time of 10:37.56 that ranked 14th-fastest in the nation.

In the 100 meters, Fisher raced to a second-place run of 11.89 that ranked 17th in Division III. Fisher also was runner-up in the 200 at 24.52.

In the 10,000 meters, junior Olivia Ippel of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph) clocked a second-place time of 36:39.83.

In the javelin, Klimp posted a personal-best throw of 36.26 meters (118 feet, 11 inches).
