Hope College tennis player Carli Capestany has been chosen Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through March 9.

The junior from Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS) defeated regionally ranked opponents at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles in leading the Flying Dutch to a 7-2 victory over nationally ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Capestany won her singles match in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 and teamed up with Nancy Benda for an 8-6 doubles victory.

Capestany is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in her career.
