Box Score The Hope College men's lacrosse team defeated Trine University 14-11 in its home finale on Saturday, but missed out on next week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
The Flying Dutchmen tied for third place in the MIAA with Olivet College and Trine. Hope, however, lost the tiebreaker for the one of last two league tournament berths because it was outscored by the two teams combined by two goals.
The Flying Dutchmen finished the 2014 season with a 6-7 record and a 3-3 mark in MIAA play.
Freshman Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids (East Grand Rapids HS) led Hope against Trine with four goals.
Two other Hope players had three goals apiece — senior Caleb Digison of Midland (Midland HS) and sophomore Parker Osterink of Longwood, Fla. (Seminole HS).
Senior Niko Pagkanlungan of Naples, Fla. (Barron Collier HS), chipped in two goals and three assists for the Flying Dutchmen.
