Hope Women's Tennis Chooses Mallory Smith, Claire Cooper As Co-MVPs

The Hope College women's team has selected Mallory Smith and Claire Cooper as its Most Valuable Players for the 2014 season.

Smith, a senior from Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), posted a 16-2 record in singles play and a 15-6 mark in doubles. She was named recipient of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Karen Caine Scholar-Athlete Award.

Cooper, a sophomore from Williamston, Michigan (Williamston HS), went 18-6 as a singles player and 15-7 in doubles. She also was named All-MIAA First Team.

Three Hope players shared the Flying Dutch Team Spirit Award — junior Carli Capestany of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS), sophomore Marie Holaway of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), and freshman Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS).
