Box Score Goals from eight different players propelled the Hope College men's lacrosse team to a 20-6 win against Bethany, W.V., in the Flying Dutchmen's home opener on Thursday at Van Andel Stadium.
The Flying Dutchmen improved to 2-1 overall with their second consecutive win.
Sophomore Zach Weber of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Pioneer HS), led all scorers with five goals. He tops Hope this season with 13 goals.
Weber netted four goals in the third period as the Flying Dutchmen extended their lead to 14-4 after producing all seven goals during the period.
Sophomore Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), chipped in four goals and two assists.
Junior Parker Osterink of Longwood, Florida (Seminole HS), added three goals and three assists.
Sophomore Ty Miedema of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), freshman Mike Odea of Naples, Florida (Barron Collier HS), and senior Peter Stuckey of Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS), contributed two goals apiece.
Junior Sam Hansel of Wheaton, Illinois (Glenbard West HS), and senior Nicklas Raycraft of Brighton, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS), rounded out Hope's scoring.
Freshman Joey Williams of Farmington Hills, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS), made eight saves in the first half to earn the win in goal.
The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, March 14, at Methodist, N.C. Start time is 3 p.m.
