No. 25-Ranked Hope Women's Tennis Sweeps Springfield For Season's Fifth Win

The 25th-ranked Hope College women's tennis team blanked an opponent in a match for the third time this season on Tuesday, beating Springfield, Massachusetts, 9-0 in Orlando, Florida.

The Flying Dutch improved to 5-1 overall, including wins against all five NCAA Division III opponents they have faced.

Hope's No. 1 doubles team of senior Carli Capestany of Hudsonville, Michigan, and sophomore Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS), raised their record together to 8-1 with an 8-1 win against Springfield's Rachel London and Stephanie Foster.

Capestany earned her 62nd doubles win in 88 career matches. She is seventh all-time in Flying Dutch history.

Capestany is two wins behind sixth-place Nicole Spagnuolo (64-8 between 2008-10). The school record for doubles wins belongs to Jennifer Smith, who went 76-22 between 1997-2000.

Hope returns to action on Thursday, March 19, in Orlando, Florida, when the Flying Dutch play SUNY Geneseo and Hamilton, N.Y.
