Men's Lacrosse Heats Up In Second Half, Downs Elmhurst In 20-Degree Temperatures

Gunnar Elder was hot for the Hope College men's lacrosse team on a cold day at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The senior from East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) sparked the Flying Dutchmen to a 10-8 win against Elmhurst, Illinois by scoring a season-high five goals amid 20-degree temperatures.

Hope's all-time career- and single-season scoring leader helped the Flying Dutchmen improve to 3-1 overall with their third consecutive victory.

Elder scored four times during the second half alone. Hope outscored Elmhurst (3-3) by a 7-4 margin after halftime.

Freshman Rocco Mularoni of Hartland, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central) chipped in three goals.

Mularoni leads the Flying Dutchmen with 14 goals this season. Elder is second with nine.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, March 14 with a 7 p.m. match against Bethany, W.V. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
