The Hope College men's lacrosse team remains in contention for a postseason berth despite losing at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association-leader Albion 19-8 on Tuesday.

The Flying Dutchmen (9-5 overall) can clinch a trip to next week's MIAA Tournament with a win at fifth-place Trine on Saturday.

Hope is tied for third place in the league standings with Alma with 4-2 league records. Albion is unbeaten at 6-0, while Olivet is second at 5-1.

Against Albion, three Flying Dutchmen players scored two goals apiece: senior Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), freshman Max Kuiper of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Central) and freshman Rocco Mularoni of Hartland, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central).

A string of six consecutive goals allowed put Hope down 9-3 at halftime.

Eleven different players had at least one goal for the Britons (12-3).
