Women's Tennis Completes Fourth Consecutive Unbeaten Run Through MIAA

The Hope College women's tennis team made it four perfect Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular seasons in a row Saturday with a 9-0 victory at Adrian.

The Flying Dutch have won 39 consecutive regular-season matches in league play — a streak that dates back to Monday, April 7, 2014 win at Adrian.

Hope heads into next week's MIAA Tournament as the top seed. The Flying Dutch will host Trine in a noon semifinal Thursday — with the winner facing either second-seeded Saint Mary's or third-seeded Calvin in Friday's championship match.

Against Adrian, Hope earned straight-set victories in all six singles matches, including 6-0, 6-0 wins from sophomore Amanda Bandrowski of Traverse City, Michigan (St. Francis HS) at No. 1 singles and senior Natalie Rahrig of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) at No. 4 singles.

The No. 1 doubles team of junior Taylor Labarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) and sophomore Claire Hallock of Lakeland, Florida (Harrison Center) claimed an 8-2 victory.

Labarge and Hallock won all eight MIAA doubles matches this season, as did the No. 2 team of Bandrowski and freshman Bailey Chorney of Waunakee, Wisconsin (Waunakee).

Bandrowski, Hallock (No. 2 singles), Rahrig, and sophomore Liz Pniewski of Lowell, Michigan (Grand Rapids Catholic Central) also went 8-0 in MIAA singles play this season.
