The Hope College men's outdoor track & field team finished runner-up in four events at the MIAA Championships on Friday at Adrian College en route to a fourth-place league finish.
Senior Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills HS) led three Flying Dutchmen who made the 400-meter final. He recorded a second-place time of 49.65 seconds and was followed by teammates Terrell Solberg of Traverse City, Michigan (Central) in third at 49.97 and Matt Ruff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton Academy) in fifth at 50.85.
The 4x400 relay team of Solberg, Wolliston, junior Collin Thomas of Novi, Michigan (Novi) and Ruff recorded a runner-up effort of 3:17.48.

Hope's 4x100 relay of sophomore Korey Derr of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Northview), sophomore Emmanuel Harinda of Holland, Michigan (Holland), sophomore Adam Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic), and freshman Emari Hardy of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores) clocked a runner-up time of 42.19 seconds.
Senior Benjamin Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Mount Prospect HS) came in second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a run of 9:43.06.

"It's really tight between four different teams," Hope head coach Kevin Cole said. "It really comes down to just a few performances all the way from second to sixth. We performed well. We worked hard."
Sophomore Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) led three Flying Dutchmen in the 400-meter hurdle final. He took third at 56.92 seconds. Junior Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville) placed fourth at 57.17, while junior Mitchell DePree of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) was eighth at 59.93.
Izenbart also finished fourth in the 110 hurdles at 15.89 seconds.
Harinda tied for fourth in the 100-meter dash at 11.20 seconds. Howard and Derr tied for sixth at 11.30.
Thomas clocked a fifth-place 800-meter run at 1:59.34.
Junior pole vaulter Ben Turner of Albion, Michigan (Olivet) cleared 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11 ¼) for fifth place.
Howard went 22.99 in the 200 meters for sixth place.
Junior Chase Gaca of Kingsley, Michigan (Kingsley) took sixth in the hammer throw at 43.71 meters (143-05) and eighth in the discus at 38.27 meters (125-07).
Junior Louis Kopp of Spring, Texas (Providence Classical) was seventh in the triple jump at 12.91 meters (42-4 1/4).
