Hope College's Emma Schaefer has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Swimmer of the Week.

The sophomore from DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns HS) finished first in two individual events and one relay during a dual meet victory against Albion College on Saturday.

Schaefer, pictured, clocked a winning 100-yard breaststroke time of 1 minute, 7.92 seconds.

Schaefer won the 200 breaststroke in a season-best performance of 2:29.01.

In a pool-record 200 medley relay, Schaefer swam a breaststroke split of 30.67 seconds. The relay went 1:48.16 to pass the old mark of 1:49.24 set in 1998.

Schaefer also swam the second leg of the victorious 200 freestyle relay that led off the meet.

This is the first time Schaefer has been chosen as the MIAA Swimmer of the Week.
