Hope College's Emma Schaefer has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week.

The senior from DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns HS) recorded the best MIAA times in four events while competing at the Davenport University Quad last weekend in Kentwood, Michigan.

Schaefer finished second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:12.04, a time that is 20th in NCAA Division III.

Her times in three other events are in the top 50 nationally: the 400 individual medley (4:44.79, 24th), the 100 breaststroke (1:09.12, 46th), and the 200 breaststroke (2:30.53, 43rd).

This is the second time in Schaefer's career, and the first time this season, she has been selected MIAA MIAA Swimming Athlete of the Week.
