Swimmer Emma Schaefer Takes First In Three Events Vs. Calvin

Emma Schaefer took first place in three individual events for the Hope College women's swimming & diving team on Saturday during a 177-123 dual meet loss to Calvin College at Holland Aquatic Center.

The Flying Dutch finish MIAA dual meets with a 4-1 record.

Schaefer won the 100-yard breaststroke with a swim of 1 minute, 7.91 seconds.

The sophomore from DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns HS) also clocked a first-place time in the 200 breaststroke of 2:28.15.

Schaefer posted a winning effort in the 200 individual medley of 2:11.16.

Sophomore Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) came in first in the 200 backstroke with a swim of 2:09.55 and the 200 freestyle of 1:56.35.

Junior Erin Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) won the 200 butterfly in 2:12.04.

Hope's next meet is the Wednesday-Saturday, February 20-23 MIAA Championships at Holland Aquatic Center.
