The 29th-ranked Hope College women's tennis team won the top three singles flights and defeated Bethel University (Minnesota), 6-3, on Tuesday at the United States Tennis Association National Training Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Flying Dutch improved their record to 3-2 overall.
Hope's scheduled match vs. New Haven was postponsed due to rain and is scheduled to be resumed on Friday, March 22.
At No. 1 singles, junior Claire Hallock of Lakeland, Florida (Harrison Center HS) outlasted Bethel's Grace Riermann, 6-3, 7-5, 10-6.
At No. 2 singles, junior Amanda Bandrowski of Traverse City, Michigan (St. Francis) downed Maggie Riermann, 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 3 singles, freshman Sydney Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll) defeated Mackenzie Novak, 7-5, 6-4.
At No. 6 singles, junior Liz Pniewski of Lowell, Michigan (Grand Rapids Catholic Central) beat Meghan Schuler, 7-5, 6-2.
Hope won two doubles flights.
At No. 2 doubles, Jackson teamed with senior Taylor LaBarge of Hudsonville (Hudsonville) topped Novak and Jill Weinzettel, 8-4.
At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Bailey Chorney of Waunakee, Wisconsin (Waunakee) and senior Erin LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) won, 8-2, over Scheuler Sydney Rott.
