Heptathlete Josh Izenbart Places Runner-Up at Invitational in Saginaw

Hope College heptathlete Josh Izenbart finished runner-up out of a field 19 competitors at the Saginaw Valley State University Jet Pizza Invitational this weekend.

The senior from Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor HS) totaled 4,429 points over seven events during indoor competition on Friday and Saturday.

The field featured athletes from all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA. Keandre Marlow of The University of Findlay (Ohio), an NCAA Division II school, finished first with 4,654 points.

Izenbart, pictured, recorded the top high jump among heptathletes at 1.92 meters (6 feet, 3 ½).

In the shot put, he posted the second-longest heave at 11.97 meters (39-3 ¼).

In the 60-meter hurdles, Izenbart clocked the third-fastest time at 8.77 seconds.

In the long jump, Izenbart was fifth-longest at 5.94 meters (19-5 ⅞).

Izenbart had the sixth-best efforts in the 60-meter dash at 7.03 seconds and the 1,000-meter run at 2:59.00.

In the pole vault, Izenbart was eighth at 2.95 meters (9-8 ¼).

Hope's next meet is Friday, January 31 at Aquinas College at 3 p.m.
