Three event winners were among the highlights for the Hope College indoor men's track and field team at the Grand Valley State University Tune-Up on Friday.
In the final meet for the Flying Dutchmen before the MIAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, Korey Derr, Josh Izenbart and Lukas Bruxvoort all posted first-place performances.
Derr clocked a winning 60-meter time of 7.00 seconds. The senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Northview HS) also took fifth in the 200 meters with a run of 23.09 seconds.
In the high jump, senior Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor HS) went 1.89 meters (6 feet, 2 1/4) inches).
In the triple jump, junior Bruxvoort of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) traveled 12.24 meters (40-4) for first place. Teammate David McHugh of Whitehall, Michigan (Muskegon Reeths-Puffer) went 12.16 meters (39-10 ¾) for second.
Bruxvoort came in third in the long jump at 5.95 meters (19-6 ¼). Senior Jager Haan of McBain, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS) was fourth at 5.88 meters (19-3 ½).
Pole vaulter Zach Elmore finished runner-up. The freshman from Cadillac, Michigan (Cadillac HS) cleared 4.32 meters (14-2).
In the 400 meters, sophomore Drew Dow of Bridgman, Michigan (Bridgman HS) clocked a fourth-place time of 51.44 seconds.
Hope's next meet is the Saturday, February 29 MIAA Championships at Trine University.
