Hope College middle blocker Charlotte Brecht has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Athlete of the Week.

The junior biology major from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan (Grosse Pointe South HS) averaged 10 kills and 4.0 blocks last week during league victories against Olivet College and Calvin University. The sixth-ranked Flying Dutch earned the outright MIAA title and top seed for the league tournament with an 8-0 record.

Against Olivet, Brecht totaled eight kills in 13 attempts with only one error during the three-set road victory on October 26. The biology major hit .538 for the match and recorded three blocks.

Against No. 4 Calvin, Brecht spiked five kills in 12 attempts for a .239 attack percentage on Saturday. Brecht also had one block.

This is Brecht's first MIAA weekly honor.
