Hope College freshman Sara Kraus has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week.
The native of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) set a school record in the 200-yard individual medley and swam a leg in a school-record 200 medley relay at the Kenyon College (Ohio) Total Performance Invitational last week.
On Saturday, Kraus led off the 200 medley relay that clocked a time of 1:44.05 during a time trial. She also finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.89 that's the second-fastest all-time at Hope.
On Friday, Kraus clocked a 56.55 time in a 100 backstroke time trial that's the second-fastest in Flying Dutch history.
On Thursday, Kraus broke Hope's 200 IM record with a time of 2:03.55.
This is the second time this season Kraus has received the MIAA's weekly honor.
