The Hope College men's indoor track and field team recorded five Top 12 performances at the season-opening Grand Valley State University Holiday Open.
The meet primarily featured mostly NCAA Division I and II entrants.
The Flying Dutchmen's 4x400 relay posted an eighth-place finish. Senior David McHugh (Whitehall, Michigan / Muskegon Reeths-Puffer HS), senior Drew Dow (Bridgman, Michigan / Bridgman), junior Nathan Woolum (Mattawan, Michigan / Mattawan), and senior Nathan Trumble (Granger, Indiana / Trinity School at Greenlawn) had a time of 3 minutes, 23.97 seconds.
In the 3,000 meters, three Flying Dutchmen placed.
Senior Nick Hoffman (Holland, Michigan / Holland) clocked 12th place in the H1 division by clocking a time of 8 minutes, 45.08 seconds.
Junior Anders Bogard (Mattawan, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) took eighth in the H2 division with a run of 8:55.41.
Sophomore Dan Campbell (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) crossed the finish line right behind Bogard in ninth at 8:59.54.
In the weight throw, junior Tyler Hicks (Rochester, Michigan / Stoney Creek ) heaved an 11th-place throw of 10.85 meters (35-7 ¼).
In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Jackson Player (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) placed 14th with a time of 8.92 seconds.
In the 5,000 meters, junior Gabe DeYoung (Saegartown, Pennsylvania) finished 17th by clocking a run of 15:49.18.
Hope's next meet is the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open on Saturday, Jan. 15.
