Twelve different players on the Hope College men's lacrosse team scored in Friday night's electric win over Kalamazoo.
The Flying Dutchmen erupted early with eight unanswered goals, blanking the Hornets in the first half, and scoring three more goals before Kalamazoo got on the board 5 minutes and 43 seconds into the second quarter.
The 20-4 victory improves Hope's record to 5-0 and marks the first time Hope has scored 20 goals in three consecutive games since its varsity debut in 2013.
Freshman attacker Michael Mann of Plymouth (University of Detroit-Jesuit) and senior midfielder Luke Elder of Grand Rapids (East Grand Rapids HS) led Hope in scoring with four goals each.
Hope extended its lead to 18-2 with seven more unanswered goals in the second and third quarter.
Midfielder Raymo Blancato, pictured right, of Harbor Springs (Green Mountain Valley) scored his first career goal in an extra-man opportunity after a Kalamazoo penalty late in the third quarter. The freshman of Harbor Springs (Green Mountain Valley) also registered an assist and forced turnover for the game.
Defender Michael Mileski, pictured left, of Inverness, Ill. (Fremd HS) also cloaked in his first career goal after forcing a turnover before the end of the first half.
The Flying Dutchmen made a strong defensive stance, allowing only 21 shots, and forcing 25 turnovers. They also led in ground balls 50-26.
Goalies Ian Bosman of Centennial, Colo. (Cherry Creek) and John Shea of Commerce Township (Detroit Catholic Central) made one and two saves, respectively.
Hope returns home for its next match against Trine University on Wednesday, March 31 at 7 p.m.
