The Hope College women's lacrosse team fell to Kalamazoo College, 20-9, on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
The Flying Dutch are 9-2 overall and finish MIAA play with a 3-2 record in league play. Their next game will be in the MIAA Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, April 24 against an opponent to be determined.
Prior to the game, Hope honored 10 seniors: Caitlyn Cowell, Rachel Elder, Laurel Frederickson, Helen Holt, Madison Micho, Caroline Milholland, Carly Pieri, Jane Ragains, Paige Rosenbrook, and Paige Wilmer.
Junior Sophie Ackerman (East Grand Rapids, Michigan/East Grand Rapids HS) scored three goals to lead the Flying Dutch against Kalamazoo (6-7, 3-4 MIAA).
Micho (Grand Rapids, Michigan/East Grand Rapids) and Pieri (Alto, Michigan/Caledonia) had two goals apiece.
Ackerman's goal with 13:42 remaining in the first half off an assist from Elder put Hope ahead 5-4.
Kalamazoo, however, closed the half on a 7-0 run for an 11-5 halftime lead.
Rose Bogard scored twice during the decisive stretch. Her eight goals for the game broke the facility record by an opposing player.
