The Hope College men's golf team's best round of the season kept the Flying Dutchmen in second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association spring standings.
The Flying Dutchmen carded a team score of 300 on their home course of Wuskowhan Players Club on Tuesday and finished runner-up. Trine University (287) took first.
Sophomore Seth Almquist of Minneapolis, Minnesota (Wayzata HS) and freshman Will Robson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) carded 3-over-par 74s to lead Hope. Both were six shots behind medalist Sam Holland of Calvin University.
"We're competitive. We're learning. We're growing. We keep finding out more about this team," said head coach Scott Lokers, whose team is in the middle of a stretch of golfing three events in four days.

On the round, the Flying Dutchmen finished one stroke ahead of third-place Calvin, two strokes ahead of third-place Adrian College and four strokes ahead of Kalamazoo College.
In the overall standings, Trine leads second-place Hope by 31 strokes after three rounds of the eight-round jamboree schedule. The Flying Dutchmen are six strokes ahead of third-place Calvin and 33 up on fourth-place Adrian.
Hope returns to competition on Tuesday, April 7 at the 1 p.m. jamboree hosted by Albion College at Duck Lake Country Club.
At Wuskowhan, sophomore Jack Crawford of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel) chipped in a 75 for Hope.
Sophomore Tim Wageman of Chesterfield, Michigan (Saline) fired a 77.
Freshman Brian Marx of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) shot an 81.
Playing as individuals, sophomore Charlie Eriksen of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Cranbrook Kingswood) recorded a 75, while freshman Tualatai Chamberlain of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) had an 82.
