It was a dominant performance for the Hope College men's 4x800 relay at the Emory University (Ga.) Open.
The Flying Dutchmen clocked a first-place time of 7 minutes, 50.44 seconds.
Junior Eli Meder (Williamston, Michigan / Lansing Catholic), sophomore Dan Campbell (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton), senior Nick Hoffman (Holland, Michigan / Holland), and freshman Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) finished nearly five seconds ahead of the nearest relay.
The performance helped Hope place 11th out of 22 teams with 29 points.
The Flying Dutchmen recorded eight Top 10 efforts.
In the javelin, freshman Aidan Kyle (Weston, Connecticut / Weston) took fourth with a heave of 51.18 meters (167 feet, 11 inches).
In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Nathan Woolum (Mattawan, Michigan / Mattawan) clocked a fourth-place run of 56.68 seconds.
In the 4x400 relay, the Flying Dutchmen's David McHugh (Whitehall, Michigan / Muskegon Reeths-Puffer), Drew Dow (Bridgman, Michigan / Bridgman), Lucas Guidone (Chicago, Illinois / Taft), and Woolum placed fifth with a time of 3:27.13.
In the 110 hurdles, junior Jackson Player (San Antonio, Texas / Winston Churchill) finished sixth by recording a time of 15.97 seconds.
In high jump, junior Case VanderZee (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) placed seventh by clearing 1.75 meters (5-8 ¾).
In the 4x400 relay, the Flying Dutchmen's Alex Daniels (Holland, Michigan / Holland), Kyle, David McNif (Norton Shores, Michigan / Mona Shores), and Player clocked a ninth-place run of 44.34 seconds.
In the discus, freshman Andrew Knieper (Lake Orion, Michigan / Lake Orion) finished 10th with a toss of 36.17 meters (118-8).
Hope's next meet is Friday, April 1, at the Olivet College Invitational.
