Hope College's Avery Slancik has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher of the Week.
The senior righthander from Scotts, Michigan (Vicksburg HS) claimed the honor for the first time in her Flying Dutch career.
Slancik recorded two wins and a 1.00 ERA over two MIAA appearances last week.
During a 2-1 win against Calvin University on Thursday, Slancik scattered seven hits over seven innings for the Flying Dutch, striking out two and walking two.
In the 7-1 victory over Saint Mary's (Ind.) on Saturday during the first game of a doubleheader, Slancik pitched all seven innings, recording two strikeouts, and only five hits.
