Hope College's Nick Hoffman excelled in a 1,500-meter field filled with NCAA Division I and Division II runners at the Drake Relays on Thursday in Des Moines, Iowa.

The senior from Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) finished 11th out of 27 runners by clocking a season-best time of 3 minutes, 47.31 seconds.

Hoffman recorded the top performance of the two Division III entrants in the race.

Hoffman crossed the finish line 55 one-hundredths after 10th-place Sean Maison of the Air Force Academy.
