Pole vaulter Zach Elmore finished runner-up in his event to lead the Hope College men's outdoor track and field team at the non-scoring Davenport University Invitational this weekend.
The junior from Cadillac, Michigan (Cadillac HS), pictured right, cleared 4.18 meters during the two-day meet that concluded on Saturday in Caledonia, Michigan.
The Flying Dutchmen recorded 10 Top 10 performances.
In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Jackson Player of San Antonia, Texas (Winston Churchill), pictured left, clocked a third-place run of 16.18 seconds.
In the 4x100 relay, senior David McHugh (Whitehall, Michigan / Muskegon Reeths-Puffer), senior Nathan Trumble (Granger, Indiana / Trinity School at Greenlawn), senior Drew Dow (Bridgman, Michigan / Bridgman), and junior Nathan Woolum (Mattawan, Michigan / Mattawan) recorded a third-place time of 42.65 seconds.
In the 800-meter run, senior Nick Hoffman (Holland, Michigan / Holland) posted a fourth-place run of 1:51.59. Junior Eli Meder (Williamston, Michigan / Lansing Catholic) was ninth at 1:53.89.
In the 400 hurdles, freshman Samuel Miller (Zionsville, Indiana / Zionsville) clocked a fourth-place time of 1:01.24.
In the high jump, junior Case VanderZee (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) took ninth with a season-best leap of 1.82 meters. Player was eighth with a season-best distance of 1.77 meters.
In the triple jump, junior Eric Salisbury (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland West) placed fifth with a leap of 12.27 meters.
In the 200 meters, Woolum clocked a ninth-place run of 23.56 seconds.
Hope's next week is the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday-Friday, May 5-6, at Albion College.
