Nathan Woolum recorded the top performance for the Hope College men's track and field team over a pair of last-chance qualifying meets this weekend.
The junior from Mattawan, Michigan (Mattawan HS) raced to a runner-up, 400-meter hurdle time of 55.30 seconds on Friday at the North Central College (Ill.) Carius/Gregory Invitational.
The effort was Woolum's fastest career run.
In the 1,500 meters, junior Aidan Jones (West Olive, Michigan / Black River) finished fourth out of collegiate runners by clocking a lifetime-best time of 4:02.67.
Junior Anders Bogard (Mattawan, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) was fifth with a lifetime-best 4:05.19.
Freshman Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) took eighth in the 800-meter run with a lifetime-best time of 1:52.31.
On Saturday, Woolum also finished seventh in the 400 hurdles with a time of 56.11 seconds at the Saint Francis University (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invitational.
Vachon clocked an 11th-place, 800-meter race of 1:53.53 at St. Francis.
Jones placed 37th with a season-best 1:57.27. Bogard was 40th with a season-best 1:57.69.
