Senior forward Tanner Wiegerink matched his season-high in scoring for the Hope College men's basketball team in a losing effort at North Park University on Thursday.

Despite Wiegerink's game-high 25 points, the Flying Dutchmen fell, 85-73, in the non-league game and dropped their overall record to 6-3.

North Park, which made the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen last season, improved to 4-7.

Hope's next games will be in New York City after Christmas. On Thursday, Dec. 28, the Flying Dutchmen will play at Yeshiva University at 8 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 29, Hope travels to Lehman College for a 5 p.m. game.

As part of the trip to the Big Apple, the Flying Dutchmen will join the Hope women's basketball team in touring the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday, Dec. 27, and ring the closing bell at 4 p.m.

The Vikings produced the most points in a single game against Hope this season.

The score was tied 64-64 when sophomore guard Justice Mims (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams HS) sank two free-throw attempts with 8:24 remaining.

North Park seized control by scoring the next 10 points.

The Flying Dutchmen went scoreless for the next 5 ½ minutes. Hope missed nine shots — eight from the field and one from the foul line — and committed three turnovers.

North Park's long-range shooting helped the Vikings sail away. North Park made 14 3-pointers in the game compared to Hope's seven.

The Vikings shot 60% from beyond the arc in the second half (6-10) while Hope went 10% (1-10).

Kolden Vanlandingham led five North Park players in double figures with 18 points.

Wiegerink (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) also recorded game-highs with 12 rebounds and four blocks.

Mims added 14 points off the bench, his second game in double figures in as many nights. He totaled 13 during Wednesday's win at North Central College (Ill.).

Junior guard Josh Decker (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio / Woodridge) chipped in 10 points off the bench.
