Men's Lacrosse Hosts Adrian in MIAA Tournament Semifinals

The second-seeded Hope College men's lacrosse team is aiming for its third MIAA Tournament title this week.

The Flying Dutchmen begin postseason play on Wednesday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at home with a semifinal against third-seeded Adrian College at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The winner advances to the title game on Saturday, May 6, at the site of the highest remaining seed. Wednesday's other semifinal features top-seeded Albion College and fourth-seeded Kalamazoo College at 7 p.m.

Led by head coach Michael Schanhals, Hope (11-5 overall) is the No. 2 seed after finishing runner-up in the MIAA standings with a 5-1 league record. The Flying Dutchmen are on a five-game winning streak.

The MIAA Tournament champion receives the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships.

The Flying Dutchmen are 7-4 all-time in MIAA Tournament play, including a 1-0 mark in first-round games, a 4-2 record in semifinal games and a 2-2 mark in championship games.

This is Hope's third postseason meeting against Adrian. The Flying Dutch are 1-1 against the Bulldogs, including a 24-3 Hope victory in the 2021 first round.

On April 19, the Flying Dutchmen won the regular-season game at Adrian, 15-9. Hope outscored the Bulldogs, 8-3, during the second half.

The Flying Dutchmen lead the all-time series 8-4 and are on an eight-game winning streak in the series.
