Men's Lacrosse Places Eight on All-MIAA Teams

Eight from the Hope College men's lacrosse team have received All-MIAA honors for the 2023 season from the league's coaches.

Four earned first-team distinction: midfielder David Brace, attacker Michael Mann, defender Tucker Martinez and long pole Luke Wierengo.

Four made the second team, all for the first time: face-off mid Caden Brainard, defender John Foster, midfielder Alex Goodall and short pole Marco Mularoni.

Brace (Plymouth, Michigan / Plymouth) earned All-MIAA honors for the first time.

The sophomore business major collected 16 goals and two assists against league opponents for the Flying Dutchmen, who went 5-1 in MIAA play for second place.

Mann (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Jesuit) is a first-team selection for the second consecutive season after claiming second-team honors as a freshman.

The junior public accounting major finished third in the MIAA in goal scoring with 23 in league games and in points with 33. Mann also totaled 11 assists.

Martinez (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland West) received All-MIAA First Team honors for the first time after making the second team in 2021 and 2019.

The senior business major returned to anchor a Hope defense that ranked second in the MIAA with a 9.69 goals against average in league games.

Wierengo (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) also assisted in the Flying Dutchmen's stingy defense.

The sophomore is a first-team honoree for the first time after tying for fourth place in the MIAA with 14 caused turnovers and for seventh place with 27 ground balls in league play.

Brainard (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths Puffer) ranked fifth in the MIAA with 63 faceoff wins in league play in his first season as a starter. The sophomore is a mechanical engineering major.

Foster (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) excelled in his first season for the Flying Dutchmen.

Goodall (Clarkston, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest) tied for 11th in the MIAA in goal scoring with 12 in league games. The senior is a civil engineering major.
