Women's Swim Adds Another All-America Second Team Swim, Maintains 12th Place at NCAA Championships

Hope College swimmer Lauren Ryle earned All-America Second Team honors in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday during Day 3 of the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

The junior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS) recorded a 16th-place time of 1 minute, 3.56 seconds in the finals.

Hope also finished 22nd in the 800 freestyle relay on Friday.

Sophomore Katie Hermann (Canton, Michigan / Mercy), sophomore Bella Turner (Chelsea, Michigan / Chelsea), senior Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Michigan / John Glenn) and sophomore Ashlea Swingewood (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) posted a swim of 7:47.52.

The Flying Dutch sit in 12th place heading the final day with 52 points. Hope leads 13th-place Johns Hopkins University (Md.) by two points.

Day 4 begins on Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m. with prelims and 6 p.m. with the finals.

The Flying Dutch will swim in three events during Saturday's prelims: the 100 freestyle, the 200 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay.

In the 100 freestyle, Ryle and Turner will be joined by two teammates: junior Greta Gidley (Franklin, Michigan / Mercy) and sophomore Laurel Wasiniak (Northville, Michigan / Northville).

In the 200 backstroke, Hermann and junior Sara Kraus (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) will compete.
