Sophomore Sophie Stironek Named MIAA Softball Position Player of the Week

Hope College sophomore Sophie Stironek has been selected as the MIAA Softball Position Player of the Week.

The first baseman from Lake Orion, Michigan (Lake Orion HS) is receiving the honor for the first time in her career.

Stironek helped the Flying Dutch by batting .600 over six games last week while leading the Flying Dutch to five victories, including three against MIAA opponents.

Stironek collected nine hits, eight RBIs and seven runs scored. Stironek homered, tripled and doubled twice.

In the field, Stironek recorded a perfect fielding percentage with 30 putouts and one assist.
