Men's Golf Finishes Play at the NCAA Division III Championships

Hope finishes tied for 31st in the overall standings

The Hope College men's golf team tied for 31st place at the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday in Penfield, New York.

On a wet and challenging day for the 43-team field, the MIAA-champion Flying Dutchmen shot a second-round score of 328 at Cobblestone Creek Country Club near Rochester for a 36-hole total of 629.

The second-round cut to 18 teams for the final 36 holes was 35-over-par. Hope finished at 53-over.

Junior Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel HS) shot a 6-over-par 78 to lead the Flying Dutchmen at the 6,770-yard Cobblestone Creek.

Cobblestone Creek played two strokes tougher than first-round play there and two strokes tougher than the 6,558-yard Midvale Country Club where Hope teed off on Monday.

Junior Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) finished one stroke behind Michael on Tuesday.

Senior Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest) chipped in an 85.

Senior Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) carded an 86.

Freshman Will Thomas (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) had an 87.
