The Hope College men's golf team will begin its pursuit of a fourth consecutive MIAA championship ranked second in the inaugural eight-team MIAA Men's Golf Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Flying Dutchmen finished runner-up with 13 points and three first-place votes, just behind Trine University, which led the poll by one point and one first-place vote.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. Calvin University placed third with 16 points and one first-place vote, followed by Adrian College (25), Albion College (30), Alma College and Kalamazoo College (40 each), and the University of Olivet (48).
Under the direction of head coach
Scott Lokers, Hope opens the season Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7:45 a.m. Central at the 36-hole, one-day Aurora University Invitational at Aurora Country Club in Illinois.
Seniors
Liam Casey of Northville, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central) and
Patrick Michael of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel) lead the returning roster.
Casey, a three-time All-MIAA selection, finished runner-up in the 2024-25 MIAA seasonal standings with a 72.17 stroke average in league play, earning first-team honors. Michael, a two-time All-MIAA selection, was a second-team honoree last season after averaging 74.83 strokes in MIAA competition.
MIAA teams will play four 18-hole rounds in the fall and one 36-hole event in the spring to determine the league champion.
