Men's Track and Field Posts Three PRs and Nation's Fastest Distance Medley Relay at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational

The Hope College men's track and field team clocked three personal records and a distance medley relay that surpassed the fastest NCAA Division III time entering the day this weekend at the University of Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational.

The DMR of sophomore Elias Kretchmar (Granville, Ohio / Granville), junior Dylan Terpstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville), senior Erickson Kunzler (Marne, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) and freshman Aiden Moore (Battle Creek, Michigan / Lakeview) finished runner-up in 9 minutes, 58.25 seconds.


The Flying Dutchmen trailed Ohio State University by 0.91 seconds.


Entering Saturday, the top Division III DMR time belonged to Williams College (Mass.) at 10:08.98.


Hope also recorded personal records in the 800 meters and the mile.


In the 800-meter open division, Kunzler posted a career-best 1:53.33, placing 17th in a field of 36 comprised entirely of NCAA Division I competitors.


In the mile open division, Kretchmar delivered his top effort at 4:12.74, finishing 23rd in a field of 39. Junior Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins) also recorded a PR, running 4:15.82 to place 33rd.


Hope next competes Friday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m. at Trine University's Mrs. G Invitational.
