Women's Track and Field Brett Showers '26

Track's Anna Sybenga Takes First in 3,000 Meters at Windy City Invite

Hope finishes second in the team standings on Saturdya.

The Hope College women's track and field team finished second overall at the Windy City Rumble hosted by the University of Chicago on Saturday, powered by multiple podium finishes and strong individual performances.

The Flying Dutch totaled 108.25 points during the seven-team event. Chicago won with 171.5 points.


Freshman Anna Sybenga (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) led the Flying Dutch with a victory in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 18:37.65.


Junior Mary England (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Central) added a runner-up performance in the mile, finishing second with a time of 5:18.10.


Sophomore Olivia Ippel (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) recorded another podium finish for Hope, placing second in the 3,000 meters with a run of 10:37.79.


Sophomore Sofia Fisher (Lombard, Michigan / Montini Catholic) delivered a pair of third-place finishes in the sprints, placing third in both the 60 meters (8.02) and the 200 meters (26.89).


Freshman Jaidyn Klimp (Galesburg, Michigan / Galesburg Augusta) contributed a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line 9.14 seconds.


Freshman Taylor Mitchell (Otsego, Michigan / Otsego) recorded a fourth-place effort in the 5,000 meters, posting a time of 19:00.98.


Sophomore Olivia Ippel (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) added a fourth-place finish in the mile, recording a personal-best time of 5:25.63.


Senior Natalie Christnagel (Grosse Ile, Michigan / Grosse Ile) turned in a fourth-place performance in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.59 meters (5-2.5).


Senior Kamryn Bice (Monroe, Michigan / Monroe) placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.39 meters.


The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Frances Cozzens (Lyman, New Hampshire / Saint Johnsbury Academy), Savana Monville (Auburn, Michigan / Bay City Western), Eliana Kotsonis (Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin / Hamilton), and Clare Sherman (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) capped the meet with a fourth-place finish, posting a time of 4:12.52.


Hope will compete next at the Mrs. G Invitational on Friday, Feb. 6th, at 3 p.m. at Trine University.
